BAYOU BLUE - FINE ART
“Bayou Blue”
Bayou Blue was born from a quiet stretch of water behind the Beauvoir estate in Biloxi, Mississippi, along what’s known as Oyster Bayou. It was there that this scene first revealed itself, still, patient, and alive in its own rhythm.
Drawn to the presence of a great blue heron, the process became one of persistence. Each time I approached, he would lift and disappear before I could get close enough to truly study him. Over time, I learned his patterns, his distance, his awareness.
Eventually, I stepped into the bayou itself, lowering down into the water with only my camera and my head above the surface. From there, I was able to close the gap and capture the detail that defines him, the structure of his body, the texture of his legs, the precision of his beak, every element that makes a blue heron unmistakable.
This piece reflects that pursuit. Not rushed, not forced, but earned through patience and intention.
